What is Astral projection?

Astral projection (also known as astral travel) is an esoteric term for an out-of-body experience (OBE) that posits the presence of a subtle body termed an “astral body” through which consciousness can function independently of the physical body and travel throughout the astral plane.

Evolution

Astral travel is an ancient concept that may be found in many civilisations. The term “astral projection” was created and popularised by Theosophists in the nineteenth century. It’s been linked to dreams and various forms of meditation in the past. Some people have claimed to have experienced comparable to astral projection accounts after using multiple hallucinogenic and hypnotic substances (including self-hypnosis).

Ancient Hindu Scriptures

Similar concepts like the Liga Arra can be found in ancient Hindu writings like Valmiki’s YogaVashishta-Maharamayana. Paramahansa Yogananda, who witnessed Swami Pranabananda performing a miracle through likely astral projection, is one of the modern Indians who has backed up astral projection.
