What is Bioofeedback?
Commercially, biofeedback is when people learn more about how their bodies work by using electronic or other instruments. They want to be able to change the body’s systems at will. Biofeedback is something that happens naturally in people all the time, at different levels of awareness and intentionality. Also, biofeedback and the biofeedback loop can be thought of as self-control. These are some of the things that can be controlled: brain waves, muscle tone, skin conductance, heart rate, and pain perception. To improve health and performance, biofeedback can be used. Biofeedback can also be used to improve the physiological changes that often happen when people change their thoughts, emotions, and behaviour. Recently, new technologies have made it easier for people to get intentional biofeedback. In the future, these changes may be kept without the use of extra equipment, because biofeedback doesn’t require any extra equipment. Meta-analyses of different biofeedback treatments have shown that it can help people with headaches and migraines and ADHD, but most of the studies in these meta-analyses didn’t compare it to other treatments.
